Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, is one of the biggest holidays celebrated predominately by East Asian cultures. It takes place on the 15th day of the 8th month within the lunar calendar (it’s Tuesday, 9/17 this year), when the moon is believed to be at its fullest and brightest. In the Cantonese culture, multi-generational families come together to enjoy a huge meal, mooncakes, light lanterns, honor the year’s harvest, and appreciate the beauty of the full moon.
This year, let’s celebrate this heartwarming Mid-Autumn Festival together with our first ever CAA meetup! We’ll have a Cantonese story time with books related to the holiday, bubble blowing, coloring, and craft making. We’ll have some mooncake to try, but feel free to BYOM (bring your own mooncake to share) and let’s “慶中秋”! Bonus points if you get the reference.
