Chinese New Year Celebration 2025 Highlights

Our first Chinese New Year event was a huge success! Thank you to all who stopped by to celebrate in the festivities, our amazing volunteers, and the Palisades Park Public Library for providing a great space.

On February 22nd, families from not just Bergen County but across Central New Jersey came to welcome the Year of the Snake through fun arts and crafts, bilingual Cantonese/English story time, and interactive games for all ages. Check out some of the highlights from the event below!

Chinese New Year Storytime in NJ
Bitty Bao Chinese New year storytime

We had a wonderful story time reading books about Chinese New Year, including a bilingual Cantonese/English board book about CNY traditions.

chopstick challenge game

Our most popular game was the Chopstick Challenge! Kids used training chopsticks to see how many jellybeans they could get within 30s. They were able to eat the jellybeans they got, as well as the highest number per round got a prize. We will definitely be bringing this game back for the next big event.

Chinese New Year themed bingo

Who doesn’t love bingo?! We played many rounds of Chinese New Year themed bingo – calling out “財神”, “蛇年”, and “湯圓” was so much fun!

Thank you again to all the new and old friends who joined us for our Chinese New Year Celebration! We look forward to move events this year and an even bigger CNY event in 2026!
