Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, is one of the biggest holidays celebrated predominately by East Asian cultures. It takes place on the 15th day of the 8th month within the lunar calendar (Monday, 10/6 this year), when the moon is believed to be at its fullest and brightest. In the Cantonese culture, multi-generational families come together to enjoy a huge meal, mooncakes, light lanterns, honor the year’s harvest, and appreciate the beauty of the full moon.
This year, let’s celebrate this heartwarming Mid-Autumn Festival together at Palisades Park Library! Our 中秋節家庭樂日 will be held at 11am-1:30pm. We’ll have Cantonese story time with books related to the holiday, craft making, and kid-friendly games.
